DO YOU ACT OR REACT?
Hi dear friends! For those of you who have been following this journey we have been on, I wanted to share some fabulous news I received yesterday! I had my first Mammogram since my surgery and radiation treatments and got to see my surgeon with her report of everything looks great and I don’t have to go back for a year! No more treatments, no more Plastic Surgeon appointments, no more Oncology appointments and we are so grateful! Thank you for praying and believing with us for my Little Inconvenience to be resolved! Thanks for your love and for caring! And most of all Thank You Jesus for your healing power! Our Lord has such a track record of being good and we are ever grateful.
DO YOU ACT OR REACT? ARE YOU AN OBSERVER?
Today I was sitting out on my swing, fighting off squirrels 🐿 and I had this thought in my heart! Do you act or react to situations in life?
All my life, from a small child I have learned to observe! I have always liked to watch how things work, how people respond and where or if I fit into each equation!! Remember you do not have to participate in every argument you are invited to. I have tried to be slow to act and slow at responding! Anger doesn't work and it can get to be an easy go to.
I didn’t know it at the time that this was a Bible Principal but hey who knew!!😉😉
James 1:19 NLT [ Listening and Doing ] Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Because of this, my focus changed from reacting to everything to acting in a way that brings good results. You know I say this often! “God Has A Way Of Doing Things And It Works!”
Oh, Believe me when I say I don’t get it right every time but I keep trying! Sometimes my reaction has caused more trouble than I care to mention. We will save that for another day.
Recently I quoted a phase from our friend Dr Jim Richards that speaks volumes to me!🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷We tend to understand God in a way that justifies our intentions!
( Did you ever notice that we always think our way is the right way)
The Bible teaches us that we will experience God based on how we perceive him. This is true concerning people and the world at large; we are never fully experiencing anyone as they really are as much as how we perceive them!!
I have found this to be true in my life! How do you see God? Is He harsh, judgemental, critical, destructive? If we see Him this way we will be this way. But if we see Him as He is, then we will flow in love, mercy, forgiveness and restoration because that is what He is all about! He IS A Good, Good Father! The same can be said of how we perceive people. We must learn to listen and know where or if we should act in every situation to bring about a good result.
I know I want to bring life, healing, peace and comfort to name a few and I believe you do too.
By knowing His Truth , this will help us to act and not react to situations!
We have a lot of people in our world reacting but not bringing lasting change. We need the peaceful fruits of righteousness!
Let’s be peace makers but not back down from injustice! Observe both sides of the story and not get caught up in the chaos!
Proverbs 18:17 The Passion Translation (TPT) 17 There are two sides to every story. The first one to speak sounds true until you hear the other side and they set the record straight.
JAMES 3:17& 18 But the wisdom from above is always pure,[o] filled with peace, considerate and teachable.[p] It is filled with love[q] and never displays prejudice or hypocrisy[r] in any form 18 and it always bears the beautiful harvest of righteousness! Good seeds of wisdom’s fruit will be planted with peaceful acts by those who cherish making peace.
I hope you are encouraged today, let’s bring the peaceful fruits of righteousness!
Blessings, Sherri
